Everyone knows that bright colours and pastels are in, but is it too much to mix the two? I say no, and especially because it’s nicer and warmer out these days–that calls for bright ensembles and styles!
Take for example, this coral top. It looks great on its own (shoutouts to @eunikoh), but I was trying to figure out what to wear on top of it (it was a bit chilly). I went through some darker coloured cardigans, which looked fine, but I found that this pastel yellow cropped blazer I bought from Forever 21 freshened up the outfit in a warm and stylish way. To contrast the bright and pastel colours, I went with a pair of darker denim instead of say, a lighter blue or a light grey.

In my opinion, the pastel yellow blazer really pulls the outfit together. And there are many other tops that would style well with this piece. Initially I thought it might be difficult to match with, but after going through several items in my head that I could wear it with (which is what I do prior to purchasing a new item), it really isn’t. Unlike a vibrant coloured blazer, this pastel yellow softens a look and creates a less formal appearance for whatever you wear it with (blouse, dress, camisole). However, it’s still a business casual blazer, which I think is great for work when worn with the appropriate clothes. It would also be great for a night out, worn on top of a black dress or any coloured dress for that matter. Over all, it’s a great colour to have in your wardrobe this season, regardless of what item you may have. Sorta screams out “Wear me to a summer cocktail, garden, or wedding party!” doesn’t it?
