Some Tips For Saving Even More Money While Outlet Shopping

Over the weekend, a couple of friends and I decided to take a trip down south to the Seattle Premium Outlets just for the day. I’ve been going to the Seattle Premium Outlets for a while now but until recently, I didn’t know anything about joining the VIP Shopper Club.

Some of you may be aware of this already, but did you know that when you sign up as a VIP at www.premiumoutlets.com, you can receive exclusive discounts to specific stores in any participating outlets you go to? And you can print out a coupon that you can claim for a coupon book at the outlet. Trust me, if you go down there enough, it’s worth your time to sign up. And the nice thing is, there are other outlets included on the website that you can select to print coupons for (eg. Outlets in Oregon, California, Florida, Hawaii, NYC). Straight from the website, some of the member benefits to being a VIP Shopper include:

  • Exclusive Online Coupons
  • Voucher for a Free VIP Coupon Book
  • Deals Around Town
  • Inside Info from Your Favorite Brands
  • Email Updates: Sales & Special Events

I’ll admit, in many cases, the coupons were not redeemable because they could not be combined with the major sales at some stores. For example, I wanted to use the Banana Republic coupon with my purchases, but apparently, I couldn’t use it on top of the sale items I purchased. Boo urns. Similarly, the coupons were not redeemable for watches…W.T.F. But I always still make sure to print out the coupons online, as well as the sheet to claim the coupon book when I head down to the states–to clarify, the printable coupons online are different than the ones in the coupon book.

So since many of the coupons were not able to be used in the stores within the outlet, I was crushed because one of the main reasons I went down to the states was to get a watch (FYI, I recently discovered that I have a watch obsession). I did see some watches at the Michael Kors store that was in the Outlets, but in my opinion, they were overpriced AND I couldn’t use the MK coupon in the book (Shitty deal!)  But just as I had almost given up all hopes that I would be able to buy a watch that day, one of my friends I was with mentioned that I should check out Fossil because apparently, they are a manufacturer of many watches, like Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Diesel, and…Michael Kors. And sure enough, I was able to find the silver watch I didn’t know I was looking for..until I found it :) The Michael Kors 5431 in silver chronograph. And the best part is, it only cost me $150.00 USD. (No, I wasn’t able to use any coupons on top of this outlet price). I consider the price of the watch decent because it sells for $300+ retail, and $150 is around my budget for watch purchases. From the outlets, I also snagged some exercise gear from Adidas–Sports bra, shorts and a dry fit shirt, and some clothes from Gap and Banana Republic, as I previously mentioned.

So I guess there are a couple of things to note here. First, Fossil sells Michael Kors watches!! This is a big deal ok! And the second thing to note is, if you haven’t already, to make sure you sign up to become a VIP shopper on the Premium Outlets website, because you will have the opportunity to save even more money while outlet shopping. You’ll receive all the perks with no extra cost. Oh, and make sure you don’t lose that coupon book you claim when you’re at the outlets because FYI, you’ll have to pay $5 to buy that same coupon book. GRR (Yes, I lost the coupon book and as a result, had to pay $5 to get another…)

Here are some pix of my new silver Michael Kors 5431 Chronograph watch for your viewing pleasure:

From the first two photos I snapped, it’s kind of hard to tell the color of the watch (kinda looks goldish eh..), so I included a much better photo I found online. The watch is platinum silver, with a silver dial and a silver mirror-looking face. The mirror-looking face threw me off at first, but I realized it’s so unique and is such a feminine piece and it’s much different than my other chunky boyfriend watch, so I knew this was the watch I wanted to take home.

Don’t you just love happy endings? :p
